![]() ![]() If it is underpowered, suggest the player also use a feat on Sacred Geometry(quicken spell) so they can do it as a swift action instead, or some other potent metamagic- Intensified Spell is particularly popular for a shocking grasp magus. If it is within reason for your game, it is, in fact, RAW and can work fine. Magical Lineage reduces the spell level itself for determining the adjusted level. If this build is likely to be overpowered, consider applying the errata to magical lineage to Wayang Spellhunter as well, as e.g. Note as well that shocking grasp is one of the weaker options for this combination- it just does melee damage- and that every spellcaster can have at most one spell specialized in this way. If you are a sorcerer or oracle, you have no level 0 spell slots, so you have to use at least a 1st level slot. But even if you don't take those traits, Intensified Snowball is the undisputed most powerful single-target damage-dealing spell up to level 10, even without ignoring SR or the staggered. Reducing the level of a spell to 0 means you have to use a level 0 or higher spell slot to cast it. Now, due to snowball's extreme power for its level, there's going to be a lot of builds that capitalize on this with Wayang Spellhunter and Magical Lineage. You grew up on one of the wayang-populated islands of Minata, and your use of magic while hunting has been a boon to you. You should consider denying it on the basis of game balance, or suggesting/allowing your other players to use similar exploits. You can apply Wayang Spellhunter and magical lineage to cast it using a 2nd level spell slot. However, it has not been introduced as errata, and the text of those traits remains unchanged. Running this trait in accordance with the rules makes it much more powerful than most other similar traits. According to FAQ, Magical Lineage and Metamagic Master traits dont allow their users to reduce spell level and have, say, a Furious Magic Missile as a 0 level spell (allowing to cast it at-will), or Intensified Fireball as a 2nd level spell. Just because the rules say something doesn't mean that is a good idea for your game. Now, if you were intending to ask if you could apply multiple metamagic feats to spells in general, also yes. If you plan to use primarily one bread-and-butter spell, and learn relevant metamagic feats, its well worth it. In combination, the two can indeed lower a +1 spell level adjustment metamagic to -1, which can indeed make a 1st-level spell a level 0 spell, which, for some classes including the Magus, gives it special properties unique to 0-level spells (like not getting used up when cast). Its quite the hit though, as there are many good traits for casters. Unlike Magical Lineage, Wayang Spellhunter was never errataed to prevent spell-level lowering. ![]()
